After much anticipation from visitors and locals alike, the Express Lane Store on St George Island reopened this weekend. The store is still setting up and for now can only accept cash payments. Shoppers will love the new tile floors, as well as the updated food and fountain beverage areas.
The Express Lane is open 24 hours for now, but slow winter business may lead to a reduction in hours until the tourist season kicks off with the Chili Cook-off at the beginning of March. Forgotten Coast Fun will keep you updated on any changes.
Work continues on the Express Lane in Port St. Joe as well.
Both Express Lane stores were closed since they received heavy damage from Hurricane Michael on October 10, 2018. Residents and visitors alike will be glad to have the Island’s only dedicated convenience store open once again. Port St. Joe customers will finally be able to shop for snacks in addition to getting gas. Recovery from a disaster like Michael takes time, but you can see it happening a little more each day along the Forgotten Coast.
